all benefited from the community’s work on Wikipedia, and so we ask you
take a few moments to think of who in your circle might guide this unique
organization through its next phase of innovation and growth.

Reporting to the Board of Trustees and acting in partnership with the
global volunteer community, the Executive Director will provide the
leadership and set the strategy for the Wikimedia Foundation while managing
its day-to-day operations and activities.  The Executive Director's
priority is to modernize Wikimedia's user experience and nurture, grow and
diversify the community of Wikimedia contributors.  The Executive Director
will also ensure that the Wikimedia Foundation's grantmaking program
supports innovation across the movement, and enables contributor growth in
underrepresented demographics and geographic areas.****

Key to the Executive Director’s success is a commitment to Wikimedia's core
values, along with the technology management and product development skills
to effectively lead a high traffic website.  The Executive Director must
possess exceptional communication skills, the drive to achieve
transformative results, and a deep respect for collaborative processes. ****

The Wikimedia Foundation Search Committee wishes to consider the broadest
possible range of ideas and leaders for this position.  There are few
pre-conceptions about who the new Executive Director might be - it might be
an experienced nonprofit leader, a person on a board who understands
high-traffic websites, or someone who has led a technology company but who
has little nonprofit staff management experience.  ****
