[okfn-br] Perdemos Michael Bauer Fwd: [School-of-data-network]

Pessoal,

tivemos mais uma grande perda, o Michael Bauer, ex Open Knowledge
Internacional e Escola de Dados Internacional. Ele deixou saudades ao redor
do mundo, principalmente a comunidade da Escola de Dados (estão usando esse
grupo no facebook <https://www.facebook.com/groups/schoolofdata/>), onde
ele era o Data Diva.

O Michael foi fundamental para a School of Data ser o que é hoje.

A Lucy Chambers que muitos aqui conhecem, também ex colaboradora da Open
Knowledge Internacional e coordenadora e amiga do Michael por anos, está
coletando fotos e memórias sobre o Michael

colaboradores e pessoas realmente especiais para esse mundo, talvez muito
pesado para elas. :'(

Vou enviar para a Lucy minhas memórias. Para nossa amiga Liane ainda
pretendo escrever um post em sua homenagem no nosso blog, mas ainda não
consegui.

If you are reading this, you will already have heard the sad news about the
devastating loss of the world's premier Data Diva.

Michael travelled and met and helped more people than any one person could
ever hope to keep track of. Man, I was his manager for two years and I
hardly knew where he was... It would be amazing to hear stories from around
the world of the amazing things he did.

The Internet is a fragmented place and we would love to capture and
consolidate memories from that journey to share and preserve offline and
online in one place for friends and family alike.

As a result, I would like you to invite to post memories of Michael here.
Ideally, they should include:

* a geographic location (yes, the Internet counts)
* an image [if you have one]
* a message, handwritten or typed

Based off what people submit, we will then curate these and work out the
most appropriate mechanism to present them. There will definitely be an
offline version for his loved ones, recommendations also welcomed for
online spaces.

Dear School of Data network,

It is with great sadness that we share the news that Michael Bauer, one of
the driving forces behind School of Data, has passed away. He was
participating in the Wachau Marathon and during the race, he collapsed. He
was training for this for more than a year. Despite of immediate
resuscitations attempts, Michael could not be stabilised and passed away in
the local hospital. He will be missed dearly.
