Dear all,

This is a quick note to say hello and introduce myself, as I started with
OKFN yesterday as Foundation Administrator and Community Coordinator. I'll
be working to promote the foundation, exploring potential contacts,
arranging events and supporting the OpenBiblio project/s; I'll also be
busying away in the background on the admin side to keep things ticking
along smoothly. For now I'm asking lots of questions, but hoping that soon
I'll be the one offering to help if you need a hand with anything.

I'm based in Edinburgh, having moved here a little over three years ago
from London, and will be working with you four days a week (usually not on
a Friday, but that routine probably won't settle in until after the New
Year due to upcoming events and Christmas).

Previously I've worked as a Project Coordinator, Project Manager and
Personal Assistant, in a few private firms as well as the University of
Edinburgh, and before all that I graduated in English Literature from the
University of Essex. I am excited about this role as it's for a great cause
and seems to marry the odd combination of skills that I love: ticking off
lists in a methodical manner and communicating with flair though creative
writing.

Outside of work I have a number of activities that I never quite take
seriously enough to call "hobbies", including singing in a choir,
experimental cooking and various dance classes (the latest of which is
beginners' ballet - now there's a way to rid oneself of any delusions of
elegance). The exception to my frivolous approach is volunteering with
Christians Against Poverty to support people struggling with debt and
financial hardship.

I'll be getting to grips with my first OKFN event next Tuesday / Wednesday,
where a number of people will be sharing resources and ideas around the
topic of malaria, and I'm excited about joining the catch-up event the
following week in Cambridge. I've had a really warm welcome to the team and
am very much looking forward to meeting you all in person!

See you then,
Naomi
