Subject: [Drumbeat] Hiring a London-based Local Event Organizer for
the Mozilla Festival
Hey all,
Mozilla is looking for a Local Event Organizer to help design and
successfully realize our second annual Mozilla Festival. As announced on
this list, the event will bring together 500 participants from around the
world to London from November 4-6, 2011: http://mzl.la/festivaldate
The position requires a seasoned event organizer with an entrepreneurial
spirit who will seek out opportunities to maximize impact while
limitingcosts, negotiate in Mozilla's interest, communicate regularly
and clearly
with team members and vendors, and thrive in an experimental and sometimes
unpredictable framework.
The position is London-based. It is part-time with an increasing time
commitment as the festival nears. A background in organizing technology-
and/or media-related events a huge bonus (don't have to tell this group).

I'm attaching the job description, and there is more info below on how to
apply. If you think you fit the bill, or know someone who does, please get
in touch!
Best,
// michelle
How to apply:
Considering the scope of this project, we'd like to learn more about your
organizing style and your vision for the event. Please submit a short
project proposal, elaborating on the questions you would tackle and the
steps you would take to ensure the event goes smoothly. In short, we would
love you to tell us the story of how you might co-organize the 2011 Mozilla
Festival and hold down the local organizing responsibilities.
Please submit to us by Wednesday, June 29 a 3-5 page summary of how you
would like to drive the local event organizing for the festival. Longer
formats are discouraged, as our objective is to get a sense of your approach
rather than all the details. There will be plenty of time to sort the latter
out later. ^_^
The proposal should include:
- An overview of your event organizing methodology and philosophy
- A notional timeline with key milestones between now and early November
- An outline of resources needed to support realizing the same
- A projected budget for your services, based on your hourly rate and
including any direct costs you anticipate needing to support your own event
organizing efforts
- Your CV
- A list of similar or relevant events you have organized or otherwise
helped to realize.
- 2-3 references of clients for whom you have organized events or related
projects
For reference, you can find the job description attached and more
information about the festival here: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Festival2011
Please email your proposal to festival at mozilla.org if you are serious and
interested.
