Hi Gene,

Thank you for your message.

Open Data Day isn't owned or run by any organization - it's a wonderful
community organized and run endeavour! :)

The amazing David Eaves <https://twitter.com/daeaves> originally initiated
it.

We at the Open Knowledge Foundation have participated since the first year
and more recently we've helped David and others by providing some minimal
coordination. In particular, as of last year, the Open Knowledge Foundation
itself has taken on responsibility for hosting the site and wiki but that
does not imply any special control there (of course anyone can submit pull
requests etc – and anyone is also welcome to
help<http://blog.okfn.org/2013/12/12/planning-your-open-data-day-2014/>
!).

Anyone can run an Open Data Day event and anyone can pitch in and help
publicize here, on the Open Data Day mailing
list<https://lists.okfn.org/mailman/listinfo/open-data-day>or on the
initiative's wiki
<http://wiki.opendataday.org/Main_Page>(as soon as ready), run the website,
code/ map/ design/ document/ blog and more.

Hope all this sounded so good that it inspired you to join the Open Data
Day community :)

Best,
Beatrice
