FOSDEM is Europe's biggest meeting of Free Software developers. It
has a relatively narrow focus on Free Software development, so it
tends to be a very technical conference, with a couple of more
political keynotes at most.
If OKF goes there, I'd suggest that you focus on presenting the
tools you're building. If you have a talk in the main track,
explain a couple of cool projects, and show people how they can
get involved.
Perhaps you might be able to get a dev room, ie. a room to
yourself for half a day or so. Then you can do more specialised
talks there, or just use the conference as meeting place where
OKFers can come together to hack.
You might also want to apply for a booth, if you manage to have it
staffed continously on both days. This would give people there the
opportunity to get to know OKF, and decide whether they want to be
involved.
FOSDEM is perhaps the best place for networking within the Free
Software community. Many groups use Thursday and Friday ahead of
the conference for their own meetings, since everyone is in town
for FOSDEM anyway.
In short, the conference is really valuable, if your interests
fall within its focus. They always have a lot of talk submissions,
and competition for the limited booth places and dev rooms is
strong.
Hope this helps.
Best regards,
Karsten
