Its a great loss to all of us. Recently in Feb he has organised open data
day successfully at kolkata. He was very passionate and very enthusiastic
towards open knowledge. May his soul rest in peace.

Dear All

I'm sorry to pass on this sad news from the Open Knowledge Community Team.
Subhajit was a physicist and strong supporter of open science and this is a
great loss to the community. Many of you will have met Subhajit at Open
Knowledge Festival and may have followed the highly successful India Open
Data Summit, which he recently organised.

If anyone would like to contribute their thoughts, memories and photos to
the blog post which Christian is compiling, please get in touch with him on
christian.villum at okfn.org.

Dear everyone,

It is with great sadness that we are passing on some really sad news from
India: Subhajit Ganguly, who is one of our two ambassadors there, has
suddenly and tragically passed away. His relatives have informed us that
following a short period of illness he passed away in the hospital
yesterday morning.

This is quite a shock since he was so young and energetic. As you know, he
was a real powerhouse in the community in the Asian region, and most
recently he was the main driving force behind India Open Data Summit
<http://blog.okfn.org/2015/03/06/india-open-data-summit-2015/>.

We will be commemorating Subhajit and all his great work in a blog post,
and if anyone of you would like to contribute to that or have other ideas
for how we can support his family and acknowledge Subhajit's work and
memory, please get in touch - either directly or in this thread.
