[Okfn-irl] Apps4Gaps Competition Registration Deadline Feb 6th - please forward to your departments/members

*Apps4Gaps <http://www.apps4gaps.ie> is an all-Ireland competition aimed at
encouraging young people to provide concepts and create applications
utilising Open Data freely available*

These apps can benefit society in such areas as transport, housing,
planning, education, communications and health. In the process,
participants will be encouraged to:

   - work as a team
   - learn or increase their skills in computer science
   - utilise the opportunities presented by Open Data
   - be challenged in creating technologies such as mobile apps.

*€5,000 in prizes! *The* closing date to register as a competition entrant
is February 6th *and the closing date for concept entry or a working app entry
is *April 2nd. *

*Team categories *
The competition is open to teams of two or three participants from any part
of the island of Ireland.

*Student Category*
Where all team members are students from Irish primary, secondary or third
level institutions. Teachers/lecturers must register the team.

*Open Category*
Where one or more of the team members are not students. A team leader
registers the team.

*Entry Categories*
Teams may enter either a working app or a concept entry:

*Working app: *Submission of a fully developed app
*Concept entry:* Proposal of ideas for theoretical software application
(“app”)
