Yes, indeedy. We investigated (and used this extensively) earlier this
year in relation to our Open Bibliographic work, e.g.:

I note that our conclusion was (in April) that, unfortunately,
JSON-LD's spec was not yet sufficiently clear to allow unambiguous and
reliable serialization and deserialization (see the latter post and
following discussion).
