tl;dr check out http://discuss.okfn.org/ a new discussion forum for Labs
and associated projects
*## What*
http://discuss.okfn.org/ - a new discussion forum for Labs community (and
others at Open Knowledge) powered by Discourse
*## Why*
Provide a structured space distinct from this main mailing list for the
increasing number of enquiries / discussions both around specific topics
and around specific projects (e.g. TimeMapper or Frictionless Data)
*## What Next*
Please be bold - jump in and comment on topics and/or create new topics as
appropriate.
We're still at an experimental stage and working out what will work best -
suggestions very welcome!
*## How*
This got booted last week using spare capacity on one of the Labs machine (
hydrogen.okfnlabs.org) - big props to Labs member Friedrich
<http://okfnlabs.org/members/pudo/> who did most of the heavy lifting. If
you encounter any issues (or want to help moderate or admin) ping
labs at okfn.org.
*## FAQ*
### Is this intended to replace the current discussion list (
okfn-labs at lists.okfn.org)?
No, absolutely not - this list will remain the primary general discussion
location.
However, there are an increasing number of enquiries especially re specific
projects where having a dedicated forum with individual topics will be
useful.
### What Kind of Topics are Allowed
We're very open - pretty much anything Labs related whether that's a
specific project or a general topic. As an example, Friedrich (@pudo) has
started a topic on "data provenance for journalists and NGOs
<http://discuss.okfn.org/t/discussion-on-data-provenance-for-journalists-and-ngos/37/3>"
whilst I've created one on "Data Packages - Creating, Finding and Tooling
<http://discuss.okfn.org/t/data-packages-creating-finding-and-tooling/48>".
