Today or the next day, I'm going to go to the Rhineland, and
I really really want to see big earthmoving equipment, like a
bucket-wheel excavator.

give tours, so that probably won't happen. I might have to settle
for the mining museum.

Does anyone have ideas about where I could legally visit some
literal earthmoving equipment?

I ask on this list because of the frequent discussion on metaphorical
data mining.
