Hey everyone,

Thanks for the message Heather.

Well, I should be doing more in the way of documenting OKFN Finland, and
sharing some tips of how to get going. I'm really sorry this has not
materialised earlier.
Actually, the same info should go out to OKFN Denmark and Sweden too...
they're sort of in a similar stage as OKFN Norway… ( so, well, a good time
to get things going :)

But, of course, I'm doing this in a spare-time capacity, so there's a
slight limit to how much I can actually get done ;(

Over at OKFN Finland though, we've been thinking that it could actually
make a lot of sense to try get some nordic cooperation going in the open
data / okfn sphere. - We're in contact with the OKFN Denmark and OKFN
Sweden people - all of whom are quite enthusiastic.
Having parallel working groups in the Nordics could help drive the
different working groups as well as the governments to release information.
Moreover, having some sort of School Of Data initiative, doing touring,
staffed by people from the different Nordic countries working together,
could, besides contributing to public data literacy education, contribute
to making bonds between the Nordic countries groups. ( Heh, one could call
it a nice new multinational cooperation :) .

Given how much of a change in knowldge culture open data can be - I've just
been studying the history of information again and am full of idealism and
a touch of bias :) - it does make sense for more public education in all
this.

Let's see how we can get this off the ground. That the Scandinavian
countries are in their early stages of OKFN community'ness, is a good
opportunity to get things going. There's surely a lot of scope for fun.

ps. I'd just like to introduce Antti Poikola - cc'd here - he's one of the
main and most active OKFN Finland organisers.
he's played a large part in getting the open data scene in finland on the
road - including the OK Festival 2012.
he's a good person to keep in the loop ;)

pps. and yes - skype meeting could be a good plan.

...and now miska goes back to regular infovis work…

Merry new open year :)

miska
