Dear CAPS partners,

The CHEST team is pleased to announce the winners of the first round of the CHEST competition. Out of 214 submissions, 35 innovative ideas will receive € 6.000 support, as evaluated and voted by the CHEST online community. The focus of the successful ideas ranges significantly, from an app to facilitate the daily mobility of people with special needs through to ecommerce platforms for food waste reduction. Common to all successful projects was their potential to address a key societal challenge and their novelty. Full details can be found at

The award aims to support the innovators in investigating the feasibility of their idea and to take their project to the next step. The support offered by CHEST will not end with the € 6.000 seed funding but continue by inviting all winners to submit their idea also to Call 3 (Call for applications) to turn their idea into a prototype or demonstrator. The third round is open until September 30th 2014 not only to the winners of Call 1 but also to new applicants and willsupport up to 25 projects with up to € 60.000 each.
