Dear colleagues,

It is with great pride and pleasure that I share with you the list
<http://www.opengovpartnership.org/civil-society-candidates> of 47 strong
and committed civil society leaders that are candidates for the 6 civil
society seats on the OGP Steering Committee.

You can find all nomination letters, cv’s and other materials for the
candidates here <http://www.opengovpartnership.org/civil-society-candidates>.
Some quick and dirty statistics: 24 male, 23 female; 13 from Europe, 13
from Asia-Pacific, 13 from the Americas and 8 from Africa. In comparison,
in 2014 we had 37 candidates (20% female).

The selection committee this year is made up of Manish Bapna (World
Resources Institute - SC member), Juan Manuel Casanueva (SocialTIC),
Mukelani Dimba, (ODAC - SC member), Anne Jellema (World Wide Web
Foundation) and Paul Maassen (OGP Support Unit).

It will now start with its challenging task of assessing the candidates,
interviewing the most promising candidates and then suggesting a final set
of candidates to the civil society members of the SC, who will ultimately
endorse the decision in writing as per the OGP’s Articles of Governance.

*The selection committee would very much like to use the wisdom of the
broader community to guide its work and for that reasons opens up the
process at this point for your **feedback and comments on any of the
candidates. You can send it to rotation at opengovpartnership.org
<rotation at opengovpartnership.org> before February 25, 2016 (midnight EST).
Feedback received will be published in the 'Comments / Endorsements' column
unless otherwise requested.*

For turning the long list of 47 into a final set of 6 the selection
committee will start with ranking each candidate along the following three
criteria: Leadership, Working across stakeholders and ability to read and
represent the interests of civil society. For each they can get a maximum
of 5 points and thus a total of 15.

More information on the job description and the full process can be found
here
<http://www.opengovpartnership.org/ogp-steering-committee/civil-society-selections>
.

Have a great weekend

Paul
