But once it is in the public domain it's in that status forever I am
told... it cannot be revoked, correct ?  So the only risk is that of being
sued for monetary damages from some owner, once they come forward and PROVE
they have ownership, not merely claiming it.

I also like Owen's phrase as well.

How long does "best endeavour" period last ?  3 months, 6 months ?  what is
typical or advisable ?
