[open-development] Kabissa Open Data Directory for Africa

Hi Friedrich, David and Jonathan -

I am so glad to meet you and find out about africaopendata.org, ckan and
its drupal modules, and am grateful this open-development list is here to
make these connections possible! I am really looking forward to digging
into this and finding out with you where we can work together on this
problem. Can we have a community call soon to talk about it?

For the purposes of this weekend, I'd be grateful for input on my Kabissa
Open Data Directory idea as soon as possible so that (assuming my pitch
wins many votes!) we have the information we need about possible technical
solutions and partners as we get going.

To start with, I'd love to know more about the background to
africaopendata.org and what problem it seeks to solve and how, and how it
differentiates from the Kabissa Open Data Directory. I'll do some reading
if I can find it on the site but don't have a whole lot of time between now
and when #socent weekend starts at 5pm PST in a few hours!

For the sake of simplicity, I've created a google doc where I will be
inviting #socent weekend people interested in helping to dump ideas, links,
resources, potential partners, and start to structure this idea together.
I'd welcome your input too and input from people you think might be
interested in helping. Please feel free to forward on for that purpose.
