Research Officer (Making All Voices Count) (635)

Hours per week: 35 - Full time
Fixed term for 3 years

Making All Voices Count (MAVC) at IDS is a global initiative that supports innovation, scaling, and research to deepen existing innovations and help harness new technologies to enable citizen engagement and government responsiveness.

We are seeking a Research Officer to help deliver the Research, Evidence and Learning (REL) component. This Research Officer will work in a small Making All Voices Count team based at IDS<http://www.ids.ac.uk/project/making-all-voices-count> and will relate extensively to a larger Making All Voices Count team and network of partners and grantees based at IDS and in Africa, Asia and Europe. They will carry out research grant management; support grantees and partners to achieve research uptake and outputs that contribute to change; and
support colleagues and others in the wider MAVC community in the design, facilitation and conduct of processes of research, evidence-building and learning, within the framework of the R&E strategy and other MAVC strategies.

Applicants should have a Masters degree or equivalent professional qualification in development studies or a related field, along with up-to-date knowledge of key issues in the field of governance, transparency and accountability, Open Data, and ICT for development. Excellent writing and editing skills in English are essential particularly the ability to summarise complex research information in clear, non-specialist language for key policy audiences and experience of working in a developing context and with diverse networks is also required for this role.

Salary: £24,542 - £36,658 Per Annum in the IDS Grade 6 range.
