[Open-education] Summer OER workshops for foreign language teachers at UT Austin

Hello,

I’m not sure how many on this list work in the field of foreign languages, but for those who do, the Center for Open Educational Resources and Language Learning (COERLL<http://www.coerll.utexas.edu/coerll/>) is hosting three summer workshops at the University of Texas at Austin. Each workshop addresses a different topic in language pedagogy and integrates the use of OER and open licenses.

Here’s a summary of the events:

  *   Adapting and Creating Activities for Heritage Learners of Spanish<http://www.coerll.utexas.edu/coerll/event/adapting-and-creating-activities-heritage-learners-spanish> (June 10-11) – This two day summer workshop for K-16 teachers of heritage learners of Spanish will provide participants plenty of time to design lessons for their own classes, and will share best practices in adapting, creating, and sharing materials with open licenses.
  *   The TELL Collab<http://www.coerll.utexas.edu/coerll/event/tell-collab-0> (June 24-25) - The TELL Collab unconference will bring together K-12 world language educators to explore, model, and share effective language learning practices identified by the TELL Framework.
  *   The FLLITE Approach: Activity Design, Assessment, and Publication<http://www.coerll.utexas.edu/coerll/event/fllite-approach-activity-design-assessment-and-publication> (July 15-16) - Participants will use pedagogical principles and strategies from the Foreign Languages and the Literary in the Everyday (FLLITE) project to create original lessons, discover new open educational materials featuring playful language use, incorporate formative and summative assessment into FLLITE lessons, and prepare and peer-review materials for possible publication.
