Dear Werner
You can see some findings on this issue within the Latin American context
in the Latin American Open Textbooks Initiative LATIn Project
<http://www.proyectolatin.org/index.php/en/>

Here is the Final Repor
<http://www.proyectolatin.org/pdfs/final_document.pdf>t.(in spanish).

In Chapter State of the Art and Need Analysis, page 47, there are some
results of a survey applied to students of 8 Latin American universities,
perceptions, attitudes and practices regarding textbooks, digital and in
open formats by students are relieved.

In Chapter Pilot Results, page 118, you can find the students evaluation
about the open textbooks developed and applied in the framework of the
LATIn Project.

Best regards,
Vir
