Dear all

First of all let me congratulate you and the OKFN team on the launch of
energy.publicdata.eu. It is a fantastic and easy to use tool and we
already received a lot of positive feedback from the readers of our blog
(http://blog.reegle.info) on the article about Europe's Energy website I
wrote last Friday.

I am working for the "Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency
Partnership" (REEEP - http://www.reeep.org) - we are a non-profit NGO,
funded by Governments to do projects on Renewables and Energy
Efficiency. In our workplan for 2011 we have a lot of activities in the
(linked) open data field, as we are a strong supporter of this idea. Our
aim is to support opening up further data on energy, provide relevant
energy data from us in this format and use data from the LOD cloud to
enrich our content. We use our information dissemination tool / search
engine http://www.reegle.info to do this - for some examples from
reegle, see below.

We are therefore very much interested in any kind of cooperation with
you, especially on data visualisation in the area of energy / renewables
/ climate change and development and I hope we can do some projects
together in 2011. I would be happy to discuss any opportunities and hope
we can do some projects together this year.

One question on the visualisations on energy.publicdata.eu. Is it
planned/wanted that your tool is integrated in other websites (as a
widget or something similar?)

Some LOD examples from reegle (we are currently re-structuring the whole
site, to guarantee a smooth and userfriendly integration of the rdf
views and the data portal, this new structure will be launched in April):
Actors (Stakeholders) - REEEP as example:
Website:
http://www.reegle.info/actors/2354/renewable-energy-and-energy-efficiency-partnership.htm
RDF:
http://www.reegle.info/actors/2354/renewable-energy-and-energy-efficiency-partnership.rdf
Data Structure: http://data.reegle.info/developers/actor

Country Profiles:
We enrich our country profiles with data from data.worldbank.org,
data.un.org (coming soon) and dbpedia and add our data on energy policy
and regulation. Example: China: http://www.reegle.info/countries/CN
RDF of policy data: http://reegle.info/profiles/149.rdf (we have to do
some tweaks on the rdf url here)
Data Structure of policy data: http://data.reegle.info/developers/profile

Using Eurostat data on our map to visualise energy statistics:
http://www.reegle.info/map/ and select a dataset from the statistics
dropdown. There is also a possibilitiy to animate the changes over the
past 10 years (click on "animation" after selecting a statistic, then
select one or two countries and press play)

Coming soon:
Project outputs (toolkits) - already available on data.reegle.info
(http://data.reegle.info/developers/projectoutput
<http://data.reegle.info/developers/projectoutput>) - will also be part
of our country profiles.
Our SKOS Thesaurus on renewable energy, energy efficiency and climate
change (currently only available as html view, see
http://www.reegle.info/glossary/504 as example for "tidal energy" -
integration into data.reegle.info will be online next week.

Best regards
Florian
