The following may be of interest to newsletter readers:

The Centre for Geospatial Science, University of Nottingham and the Mimas Centre of Excellence, University of Manchester win JISC funding success for an e-learning framework for geospatial open data, open source and open standards. The project builds on strong open source programmes at both Centres.  The project PI, Professor Mike Jackson, is a Board Director of the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) and CGS are organisers of the successful Open Source GIS conference series [OS GIS UK] held annually at Nottingham (http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/cgs/eventsitems/events2010/osgisuk2011.aspx ). The Nottingham team include Dr Amir Pourabdollah (Project lead), Jeremy Morley (CGS Deputy Director) and Dr Suchith Anand. The Mimas team is led by Kamie Kitmitto.
