Dear all,

The European Commission is currently working on modernising EU copyright
rules as part of its strategy to create a Digital Single Market for Europe.
This is a great opportunity to influence the outcomes and make sure that
galleries, libraries, museums and archives will be able to make their
collections openly available online.

That is why Europeana, together with the directors of 29 major cultural
heritage institutions have written an Open Letter strongly in favour of
updated copyright rules addressed to Commissioner Oettinger, Vice President
Ansip and Commissioner Navracsics.

The letter has been summarised by Paul Keller of Kennisland here:
https://www.kl.nl/nieuws/open-letter-on-copyright-reform-calls-for-better-online-access-to-cultural-heritage/

and by Communia:
http://www.communia-association.org/2015/10/27/directors-of-major-european-cultural-heritage-institutions-demand-copyright-reform/

Additional support is very welcome and can greatly strengthen the ability
to influence the outcome: you can add your institution to the list through
this page:

Best regards, Lieke Ploeger.
