Dear Sara: this is the message I have just sent to the FOI Advocates
(foiadvocates.net):
Best, Helen

Dear FOI Advocates:

Access Info and the Open Knowledge Foundation, in collaboration with the
Open Society Information Program, are conducting a project to map
initiatives to promote access to government data in formats that can be
freely used, reused, and distributed by anyone.

Mapping: We are interested in hearing from anyone who is working to promote
large-scale proactive disclosure of government data and/or working to ensure
that the formats in which data is released mean that it can be used and
reused.

After the first phase of the project we will produce a map of current
initiatives, identification of issues and obstacles, and recommendations on
how access to information/freedom of information activists can work more
closely with open government data activists to advance the right to know. We
hope that this is an initiative which will involve access to information
activists from around the world in pushing for a higher level of access to
data created by public bodies.

.	For more about this project and some of the initial mapping
findings, see: http://www.access-info.org/en/open-government-data and
http://opengovernmentdata.org/

.	To tell us what you are doing, fill in our simple "Form":
http://opengovernmentdata.org/form/

.	To join the Open Government Data mailing list, click here:
http://opengovernmentdata.org/mailing-list/

Deadline for submission of information to be included in the first phase of
the mapping is Friday 5 March 2010

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Helen

Subject: [open-government] Call for OKF Newsletter items/info

Hello,
Can I ask for any news/information and OKF relevant updates you may have, to
include in the upcoming OKF newsletter, be sent my way?

This might be an item relevant to 'in brief' news, ie. a couple of sentences
synopsis is fine; or it may be more comprehensive information about OKF
recent activities (eg. the COMMUNIA workshop held in Luxembourg) or recent
open data activities and initiatives you've been involved in - in which case
send me full details or URLS so I can re-write/edit/summarise as
appropriate.

The more information the better: so send me what you've got in the first
instance (no matter how small/insignificant an activity/outcome it may seem
to be) so it can be whittled down from there. As usual, newly-discovered and
useful URL/links to showcase are also appreciated.

Please send to me by: the week beginning Monday 22nd February in order to
ensure inclusion.

Thanks!
