Speaking of elected officials, in the U.S. we have an effort in
development called: http://democracymap.org

The idea is to aggregate official government jurisdiction data
including the official web addresses (led by E-Democracy.org) and
boundary data (led by OpenPlans.org) for a new open data set of the
most basic who governs me information (we have 30,000 government
jurisdictions in the U.S.) on top of which data on elected officials
can be developed (we have a huge market failure on local official
look-up in the U.S.).

We have an online working group and are planning a webinar/update
meeting in the not so distant future.
