Just thought the list might want to know about OpenCharities.org, a new
project to open up the UK Charities Register (which the Charity Commission
have refused to publish).

In the end it took several days of screen-scraping (there's over 150,000
charities), and there's still some tweaking needed (see blog post
http://countculture.wordpress.com/2010/09/06/introducing-open-charities-opening-up-the-charities-register/),
but the basic register is now available under SA-Attribution licence via the
basic API and as a download (19MB compressed).

For linked data people, there are also dereferenceable URIs for every
charity using the charity number, e.g.
http://opencharities.org/id/charities/1086812 .
