[open-government] Call for Open Government Reference Data

>From the 12th to 23th December we tasking the Listpoint team to find and publish Open Reference Data sets (Code Lists). All suitable lists we find in both the private and public sector will be published and made available as 'Open Data'. We hope to significantly increase the number and coverage of code lists that are already on the platform.

Reference data is hugely important to help define data standards where those standards do not exist or cannot be agreed. The platform has already been used in projects to successfully map 20,000 code lists into just 300 central standard codes, meaning data from across 50 locations was successfully translated to deliver a single view of information. We hope by providing this code list repository for the Open Government Data community, it will help to support further outcomes from all the Open Data sets published by helping map elements of the metadata.

If members would like to provide Open code lists for this exercise, either the actual list or a URL I will be delighted to get them published on Listpoint under the appropriate Open Licence. We hope to add at least 1000 new code lists to the platform which in turn will support development of outcomes from the Open Government Data sets that already exist out there.

Listpoint is being developed to improve the developer and community tools and aid the future management and sharing of reference data.
