Dear Daniel and colleagues,

I have been on the listserv for several years, but have not participated in the telcons. As you may know, I have done substantial work in open gov data and info/public domain, but I am undertaking a more focused set of issues in the legal interoperability of research data, and specifically the licensing. Specifically, I have co-chaired a committee on Legal Interoperability (of GEO Data) under the Group on Earth Observations Data Sharing Working Group (which I also co-chair). A summary white paper is attached, for your review and comment. 

I am now putting together a Research Data Alliance - CODATA WG on Legal Interoperability of Research Data with some other folks and planning an international workshop at the US National Academy of Sciences. We would very much like to involve a lawyer associated with the OKF in the RDA-CODATA WG, because many research databases are also produced within gov and becuase OKF has been very active on the licensing front.
