Sorry for resending it to the whole group but here`s Sunlight`s response to
the announcement:

Does anyone have good examples for similar initiatives outside the US? We
are interested in both municipal and national level inventories/information
listings.

The Canadian government created a research group to track federal data
holdings within departments but we can`t find an update on the actual state
of the project:
