Digitial Citizens: How Feedback Loops can improve governance on
everything from potholes to voting

A Twitter #SocEntChat and Google Hangout with Tiago Pexoto and Steven
Clift, moderated by Stephen Davenport, this Wednesday, February 19,
2014 from 10:30-1pm EST.

Citizens are increasingly using digital platforms to push government
to be more effective and efficient. How does this change the roles of
both citizens and government? What are the characteristics of the most
effective platforms in providing pathways for citizen feedback? This
social media event brings together pioneers in supporting digital
citizens for a fast-paced and engaging discussion around these
questions and more.

We are continuing our social media conversation with a Twitter
#SocEntChat this Wednesday, February 19, 2013 from 10:30-12pm EST.
Here you will be able to learn more about feedback loops, their
saliency in your work and varying sectors; as well as information
about our ongoing competition.

This will be followed by a live-feed discussion on Google+ Hangout
from 12-1pm EST, with special guest panelists and moderator, who will
engage in an in-depth conversation regarding feedback loops' social
impact.

Confirm your participation and join the conversation clicking here.
More information about how to join at the end of the post.

as leader of the State of Minnesota's first e-government initiative.
He spoke across 30 countries for over a decade from Estonia to Libya
to Mongolia on open government and civic participation to support
non-partisan, volunteer-powered efforts for inclusive online local
democracy. Today he is E-Democracy's Executive Director and leads a
dedicated team with the BeNeighbors.org effort to connect all
neighbors online (and off) in public life across race and ethnicity,
generations, immigrant and native-born, and more. In 2013, Clift was
honored as a White House Champion of Change for Open Government.

Guest: Tiago Peixoto (@participatory): having worked for 10 years as a
practitioner and researcher in the field of ICT and participatory
governance, Tiago is currently an open government specialist at the

and the Brazilian and UK governments. He is also research coordinator
of the Electronic Democracy Centre, a joint venture of the European
University Institute, the University of Zurich and the Oxford Internet
