Right now I'm trying to get a robot to create pages on euwiki.
When I have it I want it to create one page per monitored dossier and tell it to fill it with publicly retrievable metadata. I also want it to work on completing the wikification of directives and regulations from eur-lex etc., to provide for legible easy-to-use wiki internal links (e.g. [[2002/19/EC]] and [[TEU#Article_7]]).
In the end, I want to have, accessible from "the outside", a wiki page per dossier which looks and feels similar to the reports and summaries staffers and assistants create on "the inside" of the EP.
It should look something like this:
http://euwiki.org/Sandbox/INI/2009/2176
As you might have seen, this overview page can be helpful when you try to get a grip on what's in the EP's pipeline (click on "forecasts" twice):
http://euwiki.org/Tratten/oeil/Stage_reached_in_procedure
But the next step is of course to interact with the legislative process, and that's where an open workspace supporting the workflow "on the inside" can play a role. Here's an example (not yet in /oeil so no metadata):
http://euwiki.org/COM/2010/0252
My reason for driving this project is that NGOs and activists are already providing auxiliary services to MEPs, even (sometimes) to the extent of writing amendments. But efforts are sometimes lost due to lack of communication and coordination over simple things like who, when, why and how.
Btw, I'm more than willing to move from mediawiki to whatever superior platform, but not before euwiki has a couple of active users who can define problems to solve and describe features needed in the new environment.
Best regards.
