14:00 – 14:10: Welcome
14:10 – 14:50: Invited Talk: Gerard de Melo – Knowledge Graphs: Venturing out into the Wild
In the past years, knowledge graphs have grown from niche academic
endeavours to becoming important assets for many IT companies. Yet,
although we now have vast repositories of facts at our disposal, it
appears that our systems often need further kinds of knowledge that are
still missing in most knowledge graphs. In this talk, I will argue that
we need keep moving further beyond simple collections of encyclopedic
facts, and that natural language is the key to these new forms of
knowledge. The talk will showcase several of our contributions towards
this goal. These include our work on large lexical knowledge graphs such
as UWN/MENTA and Lexvo.org<http://lexvo.org>, on integrated semantic resources such as
FrameBase, and on large-scale common-sense knowledge collections such as
WebChild and Knowlywood.
