The Unit for Natural Language Processing [1] of the Insight Centre for Data
Analytics [2] at the National University of Ireland Galway [3], invites
applications for a 4-year PhD position in Natural Language Processing
applied to eLexicography in the context of the ELEXIS - European Electronic
Lexicography Infrastructure - project.
The Insight Centre for Data Analytics is the leading research institute in
Ireland for data science and the student will be based at the National
University of Ireland Galway.
Candidates will be expected to work on one or more of the following areas:

Machine-readable dictionaries
-
Semi-automated linking of electronic dictionaries
-
Cross-lingual semantic similarity
-
Linking dictionaries across languages
-
Quality and validation of electronic dictionaries
Candidates should preferably have a Masters degree in a relevant field of
study with an emphasis on areas such as text mining, natural language
processing, computational linguistics, machine learning etc. PhD students
at the Insight Centre for Data Analytics will receive a tax-free stipend of
EUR 18,000 per year (EUR 1500 per month) for four years, in addition to
university fees. The successful candidate will be preferably start by
February 2018.
