The Content Mining Revolution
Oxford Open Science, Oxford e-Research Centre, 7 Keble Road
Wednesday 24 July, 19:00-20:30

Text and data mining the scientific literature is important. Liberation of
numerical data from scanned images such as graphs and phylogenetic trees
will free more scientific knowledge for reuse and meta-analysis than ever
before, while natural language processing and other text mining tools offer
the promise of semantically enhanced articles that could increase the pace
of scientific progress and the ease of literature reviews exponentially.

Peter Murray-Rust will discuss the possibilities, the technology and the
legal battle that the scientific community faces with publishers and
information holders to deploy these technologies and speed up the process
of drug discovery, systematic review, cross-discipline linkage and more. We
hope you will join us to chat about the possibilities for your research and
find out more about this exciting time in scholarly communication.
