Special Announcements

European Cleanweb Summit  (5-6 July, Barcelona)
Come to lovely Barcelona in the summertime and meet with people from across Europe using the Web to address resource and sustainability challenges. Contact Oriol Pascual <oriol at oriolpascual.com> for more information.

Cleanweb June: Energy from Amsterdam (This Monday, 23rd June, Shoreditch Village Hall, 19:00, or before 17:00 for the match)
Meet the startups of the first European Smart Energy Program of Amsterdam's Rockstart Accelerator. Find out more about the international program and the startups and get to know them though a quick Q&A game.
Main event starts at usual time (19:00), but get to Shoreditch Town Hall before 17:00 and also watch Netherlands vs Chile with our visitors from Amsterdam 

Renewable Energy Association Marketplace Workshop  (Tomorrow Afternoon, 18th June, London)

Hack against catastrophic climate change, preparation workshop  (Monday 14th July - 2pm-5pm, London)
Facilitated by Geeklist and Sift Digital, we'll help organisations define clear challenges, issues and problems that technology can help you tackle. We'll imagine together a positive and possible future with the full power of technology in our hands and scaleable, sustainable, innovative solutions deployed in the global fight against climate change. Climate Change Coders Climate modelling software hack evening (June 18, London) and Friends Of The Earth Open Source Mapping Tool Code Hack Evening (June 25, London)

UN Big Data Climate Challenge (Deadline 30 June)
We welcome recently implemented or published projects that use big data and analytics to addressreal world impacts of climate change. Winners will be *flown* to New York for the UN Climate Summit, where their projects will be showcased. As we have received submissions from the fields of energy, forestry, agriculture and transportation, we would welcome projects representing other fields including green data centers, material sciences, architecture and design, smart cities and ecology.

Energy & Environment Expo (Today! Free! 17th-19th June)
Energy & Environment Expo at London's Excel will offer attendees access to a whole range of solutions and businesses - all of which relate to building management/efficiency.

CycleHack (20th-22nd June)
Between June 20-22nd people will be Cyclehacking all over the globe.  If you're interested in running a Cyclehack in your city, check out their sign up page.

SusHack#2 (28th June, Oxford)
SusHack is a free one-day hack day in Oxford.  SusHack helps developers get together to create solutions to sustainability problems using their skills in development and lots of coffee.

Open Knowledge Festival (15th-17th July, Berlin)
To create societies where everyone has both access to key information and the ability to use it to understand and shape their lives, we must build knowledge into the heart of all of our activities. This is a big task which requires not just a global shift in mindset, but also that we build the tools and communities to make such a society possible. We invite you to join us from 15-17 July in Berlin for OKFestival 2014 as we consider how to translate Open Minds to Open Action. There will be a number of session on open data and sustainability. Cleanweb Wild: Biodiversity and the Web (Monday 28th July, Shoreditch Village Hall)
Meet the people pioneering using Web and data to protect habitats and endangered species.

Wikimania (6th-10th August, Barbican, London)
The official global event of Wikipedia and the Wikimedia movement, where you'll discover all kinds of projects that people are making with wikis and open content, as well as meet the community that produced the most famous wiki of all, Wikipedia!

ICT for Sustainability and Green Hackathon Stockholm 2014 (6th-10th August, Stockholm)
An international academic conference in Stockholm on "ICT and transformational change". Sustainable development needs transformational changes both in technology and in our patterns of production and consumption. This conference continues to explore and shape the role of ICT for sustainability, including assessments of both positive and negative impacts.

Behave Energy Conference (3rd-4th September, Oxford)
Behave 2014 is the third European conference on behaviour and energy efficiency. This year's theme is 'Paradigm Shift: From Energy Efficiency to Energy Reduction through Social Change' and will explore how energy efficiency can be achieved through social behavioural change. It will be held at the Saïd Business School in Oxford.

hack against catastrophic climate change, Hack4Good   (12-14 September, Around the World)
This September, over 3,000 developers will unite worldwide at Geeklist #hack4good, collaborating with the world's leading NGOs, campaigning groups, scientists, government and UN agency experts on what may be the most pressing and global issue currently facing humanity. We're gathering to hack against climate change. It's a critical time for the climate right now, and we believe in and want to show the world the power of technology to unite humanity towards a positive and sustainable future.

Disruptive Innovation Festival (20th October -14th November)
The DIF is an online open access platform that brings to life the creativity, innovation and entrepreneurial elements of the circular economy.  It will give participants from across the globe the opportunity to showcase initiatives, to learn and to co-create.

UK Cleanweb Sector Market Survey - thanks!

Thanks very much to everyone who took part in the survey by Sonny Masero investigating the Cleanweb sector in the UK. We had over 60 responses and are really looking forward to the conclusions. (And sorry for all the reminder emails!) A report will be published by Nesta after this project is completed at the end of July 2014 and the results will be distributed to all Cleanweb UK members.
