Firstly, apologies everyone for previous misfired email!
As it mentioned, the Cleanweb Initiative Spain is organising a European Cleanweb gathering in Barcelona (July 5-6) to explore ways to develop a pan-European community around the using the Web to address resource and sustainability challenges.
If you'd like to attend, please sign up here http://cleanwebcn.pbworks.com
The term Cleanweb comes from the intersection of "cleantech" and "Web", and there are active groups and events around the World. Cleanweb, and similar Green Hackathon, events have been held around Europe, including Berlin, Edinburgh, Paris, Rotterdam, Rome, Athens and recently L'viv, Ukraine. In London there are over 750 members, and regular monthly meetups where entrepreneurs, developers, designers, energy professionals, and environmentalists discuss everything from using food more efficiently, to adaptation to climate change with the Web. Cleanweb projects and companies often depend on open data, so there's plenty of overlap with open sustainability.
The event will look to strengthen and develop the European cleanweb community, and synergies between existing and potential groups. It’s an opportunity to and share learned lessons and connect with like-minded people who care about using these powerful new technologies to do something more meaningful than share videos of cats! The event is free and will take the form of an unconference, where participants contribute with content.
