Dear Lieke,

Thanks for this update!

Would you mind providing a bit more information about the “community members from Wikimedia, Open Knowledge International and Creative Commons” who have joined forces and what kind of structure is currently being set up by them? – I think it would be nice if you would involve us (the members of the OpenGLAM Working Group and the GLAM-Wiki community) in your deliberations…

Also, I am probably not the only one who would be interested in the results of your survey.

Kind regards,
Beat

Subject: [Openglam_members] OpenGLAM Working Group - Update on current developments

Dear all,

It has been some time since we have been in contact with you regarding the OpenGLAM Working Group. In this email we would like to update you on the current status of our OpenGLAM community, as well as on future plans.

First of all, we would like to officially end our OpenGLAM Working Group. Community members from Wikimedia, Open Knowledge International and Creative Commons recently joined forces to reinvigorate the OpenGLAM initiative, and a more loosely set up structure represents the current community better.

When several months ago these community members came together to restart work on the OpenGLAM initiative, one of our first steps was to revitalize the @openglam twitter account<https://openglam.org/2018/07/19/are-you-working-in-the-openglam-arena-tweet-about-it/>. We invited contributors from different parts of the world to showcase and highlight the way in which OpenGLAM is being understood in different contexts. A second step was the set up of a survey to check up on the continued impact of the OpenGLAM Principles<https://openglam.org/2018/10/15/do-you-use-openglam-help-review-shared-openglam-principles-for-open-galleries-libraries-archives-and-museums/>: we received over a hundred responses in the past weeks.

To reflect the new direction of the OpenGLAM community, we would now like to start work on updating our OpenGLAM website, as well as the OpenGLAM principles, at https://openglam.org/.

In addition we plan to schedule monthly OpenGLAM calls from January 2019 onwards, which are open to everyone working in the OpenGLAM field to join. Of course you are warmly invited: we will inform everyone on these via our OpenGLAM mailinglist.

We hope you will be interested to stay involved in our community, as we would greatly value your feedback and comments as we have done over the past years.

A warm thanks for all your support to OpenGLAM, and best regards,

Lieke Ploeger
