Some useful info on cuts from Gemma Tetlow of the IFS. The attached
document she mentions is uploaded at:

With the PM's speech yesterday and the announcement of widespread
consultation on the cuts by the Chancellor it's clear the "cuts" are
going to centre stage over the next weeks (and months ...)

Subject: Some potentially useful info for you

Hi Rufus

I thought the attached might be of use to you in relation to the
announced spending cuts. Two additions to the info you currently have
on the site:
(i) some departments actually had spending increases announced on 24th
May (specifically, CLG Communities and BIS), which slightly offsets
the gross cuts announced.
(ii) figures for the cut in budget relative to previous plans for
2010-11, and also resulting cuts in 2010-11 budget relative to 2009-10
spending.

Hope this is of use. If anything does not make sense, please let me know.

Best wishes,
