Hi everyone

I'm following up a discussion from October which resulted in the
creation of the wherearethecuts.org site, built on Ushahidi.

NCVO was running a similar exercise called "crowdsourcing the cuts", and
we added some of the cuts from there into wherearethecuts.

We've decided to reboot and relaunch crowdsourcing the cuts - this time
as Voluntary Sector Cuts. Rather than being an NCVO-only exercise
(albeit with publicly available results) we want Voluntary Sector Cuts
to be an exercise that involves the whole of the voluntary sector. So
we've created a new site which is co-branded with logos of all the
infrastructure organisations that have got involved.

You can see the site at http://voluntarysectorcuts.org.uk/

I tried to use Ushahidi but it was beyond my technical skills to set up.
Instead I've used a slightly thrown-together combination of wordpress,
google spreadsheets and forms and Exhibit
(http://www.simile-widgets.org/exhibit/). It's not perfect but does
work, although it uses more iframes than would be ideal.

The reasons I'm telling you all is to make sure that it links in with
wherearethecuts.org - in an ideal world I would have recommended we use
watc as our platform, but the demands of working with lots of partners
and wanting to collect some bespoke data meant that we had to start from
scratch. But as the data will continue to be open I hope we can transfer
any cuts to wherearethecuts.

Any feedback or suggestions you have on the site are also welcome!

Thanks
Dave
