It's simply a different point. You don't have to believe that cash is
near-extinct to get benefits from using a community currency now.
Community currencies stand on their own merits (or otherwise), now and
in the future.

I do believe, however, that the increasingly rapid demise of cash in
the developed world offers new opportunities for community currencies
(perhaps in new forms), but those opportunities will also be exploited
by governments, banks and corporations on their own terms too. They're
already doing this far more effectively right now than anyone from the
CC world.
