Dear All

I'll be going to Barcelona, to visit Guifi.net during the weekend of the 24-26.
of November. I have talked to Gil + Ramon about getting together and start the
planning of a wsfii event hosted by Guifi.net, next year.
So I just wanted to "shout-out" and hear if anybody else would like to join in
Barcelona, for discussions and get stuff done?

In addition to this the cultural production coorperative around platoniq.net are
organizing a exiting event:

http://www.platoniq.net/eng/

Banco Común de Conocimientos (BCC) or Common Bank of knowledge is the motto and
principle activity of the third Media_Space Invaders event which is organized
around the themes of culture, appropriating technology and citizen
participation. These activities form part of the event “Now/ARA Encuentros en el
Presente Continuo”, organized by the CCCB taking place in November 2006.

The event consists of presentations, workshops, conferences and public actions
with the intention of bringing together citizens, investigators and creators in
diverse fields.

Common bank of knowledge can be viewed as a pilot test of knowledge exchange.
This project stems from a study of similar previous initiatives in Catalonia and
abroad with a view to creating a network of people and spaces willing to
exchange knowledge and cultural objects

From September to November, work will be done to ascertain the knowledge needs
of various associations in the Raval and other Barcelona zones in order to
compile a directory of requests and proposals on the basis of which the Common
Bank of Knowledge will be able to configure the first nodes of the exchange network.
In order to organize and open this process to others, an internet platform will
show the results of the investigation as well as enable
users to register their knowledge demands and offers.

Lastly, on 24 and 25 November, a wide range of consultants, experts and useful
archives will be assembled both face to face and in internet to form a cultural
objects market consisting of professionals and amateurs prepared to barter with
their accumulated knowledge and experience.

The Common Bank of Knowledge will be accessible in two ways, one atemporal,
organized in internet, the other, ephemeral, but face to face which takes place
on 24 and 25 November in the CCCB’s hall.
During these two days visitors, apart from being able to gain access to and
consult material related to culture, new technologies, languages, legal and
administrative matters, etc, will be presented with a series of related
activities such as round tables, conferences, workshops and music concerts.

This project pretends to exchange and gift economy, inventing codes that
regulate the appropriation of informal meaning knowledge generated amateur
practices, ranging radio communities to bloggers.

The Common Bank of Knowledge organized as a model of a laboratory for inventing
out new forms of production, organization and diffusion
roles for producers and and amateurs, teachers as new relations between images,
texts and sounds in public space.

In short, The Common Bank pretends to allow people value of knowledge to
assemble, restrictive hierarchical roles, create and transmit in new
and exchange circuits.
