Marco,

Great effort.

I am wondering about how these materials will be transported to Ghana.
We are talking if my estimation is correct several miles of cable. So
how many antennas will this make? How long will it take to make them and
so then we have to think about the rest of the hardware and operational
and capital funding to set up the networks and train the people to
operate them.

How much space does this amount of cable take up and how much does it
weigh?

Ideally what you would want to do for shipping is bundle it with other
hardware needed computers, routers, air conditioners etc to reduce the
shipping costs.

Jeff

hi all

a cable manufacturer from germany (elspec) will donate HF wire in huge
lengths for ghana - they are already supporting a ghanian orphanage
(with money). pls gimme some feedback, like WHAT and HOW we can make use
of it. my idea was to try to get another donation of crimping materials
to assemble some of it during the roadshow/summit. with the help of
accton it might be a start for a small nonprofit-WIFI-hardware-supply in
ghana. maybe there will even be a way to produce simple antennas out of
local materials. ... see the list ... lg, marco

1.000m RG58
5.000m videocable 1048 AF-PVC
500m RG59

ps: ideas for shipping? the german GTZ might be helpful ...
