[wsfii-discuss] 3 Skypephone - free (not as free as beer!)

A post in Engadget reports a co-branded 'free' Skypephone service is launched in the UK. With ITU placing WiMax in the 3G category, and telcos offering free Skype to Skype calls (to paying customers), it seems as though the threat from alternate technologies is finally forcing a shift in attitudes. 

The question is, will these options becoming available to well-heeled (relatively) consumers lead to diminishing of freedom (options) for others?
