[annotator-dev] Extending highlighter.js (2.x)

Afternoon,

If I wished to extend highlighter.js to display a callout next to the highlight (all the time) would I simply modify highlight.js, and load it as a custom module for annotator in my page?  Or would it be better to instead create an extension and load it?
