Hi Adrià,

I've made a commit to the dgu release branch [1] which ensures the data
previewer cleans up after itself in cases where it fails to load the data:
 The large whitespace that is left over is hidden, and so is the "control
panel" and the embed button.

I think this is a candidate for cherry-picking into master; and possibly
1.7.1 too if the window for that is still open.
