[ckan-dev] Pluggable previews

Hello everyone,

I would like to ping you to ask whether anyone has thought about writing the code for ticket 2961, the "Preview plugin endpoint"? If not, I'd like to start working on that soon.

Also I'd be interested what requirements people have. 

My idea is that users should be able to use an API endpoint to add custom previews for certain datatypes. We could also start externalizing the previews that currently in core (or at least have them as core plugins). 

Advantages:
* Every preview would have to define it's own dependencies
* People can build their own previews
* Smaller core

Any thoughts on that?
