We've proposed that we switch OpenID off by default for a future
version, beyond that we will look into removing the OpenID code all
together. I'm aware there was some interest in keeping it and as much
as we all like deleting code, in a world where every line of code is
loved and tested, it would be nicer if it was perhaps extracted out
into an extension instead and given the attention it would need.

So if you're willing to become the loving parent of an OpenID
extension it would be great to hear from you, I'd be willing to help
you along as much as I can, as I will have to go through the current
any OpenID stuff in the code base to delete it.
