[ckan-dev] ckanext-spatial extension not working

I have installed the ckanext-spatial extension using the instructions at http://ckanext-spatial.readthedocs.org/en/latest/install.html
I have also added code to get the dataset extent  map working. The dataset extent map works with the spatial code added to a dataset (eg. { "type": "Polygon","coordinates": [[[-99.7338867188,49.6249456465],[-99.7338867188,54.175296724],[-95.0756835938,54.175296724],[-95.0756835938,49.6249456465],[-99.7338867188,49.6249456465]]]}) but when the spatial search box is clicked and an area selected, I receive the message "There was an error while searching. Please try again".

I added the code to solr using the first option for fields. I added the fields after the section titled <!/Copy the title field into titleString...-->

I am  using CKAN 2.2 with Ubuntu 12.04.  Any thoughts?
