There is a puppet module that installs CKAN 2.1 for Ubuntu found here.

https://forge.puppetlabs.com/conzar/ckan

It takes all of the labour out of getting up a CKAN site quickly.

Thanks for the hint, I didn't even know that CKAN was using nginx (I didn't configure it in the first installation).

Maybe is not configured properly because I run these commands and there weren't really needed for the package installation (at this point of the doc: http://docs.ckan.org/en/ckan-2.0.2/install-from-source.html#create-a-ckan-config-file) :

sudo mkdir -p /etc/ckan/default
sudo chown -R `whoami` /etc/ckan/

and

cd /usr/lib/ckan/default/src/ckan
paster make-config ckan /etc/ckan/default/development.ini

Going to see if I can solve it, thanks again.

Jesús

As I’ve understood it Apache should run via port 8080.
Nginx runs via port 80.

Have you checked your nginx-settings?

Hello,
I am installing a CKAN instance in a server running Ubuntu 12.04-46bits. I have followed the "Package installation" (http://docs.ckan.org/en/ckan-2.0.2/install-from-package.html) and all the mandatory steps have been completed.
The problem is that I can access to the CKAN web page under the address: http://localhost:8080 but I can't using http:localhost .
I find this weird, because this is the second time I carry out this kind of installation, and the previous one it worked great for both, port 80 and 8080.
¿Any ideas? I guess the problem could be Apache's configuration. But reviewing the first and the second installations Apache files they seem identical.
Many Thanks,
Jesús.
