[ckan-dev] ckan - portal development to deployment

Hi everyone,

We are trying to understand the technical details associated with CKAN-
from portal development stage to deployment. Our plan is to create a CKAN
portal in a local environment and then host it from one of the University's
Server (don't know which Linux operating system they have). So, the very
first question we have is:

Suppose we install ckan from package and create a ckan portal in Ubuntu
14.04 64-bit. Can we host the portal in the server with operating system
(lets say RedHat)? What are the basic things that one need to consider
while hosting the portal.

I would appreciate some guidance on this. Thanks!
