Ah great!
In that case the problem may be more social than technical. I.e.
retrospectively getting people to register for IDs (BTW should this be
called 'username' rather than 'full name'?), and URLs (could we have
some neat field to specify custom URLs, like I can, e.g. on Flickr,
etc)?
So if I want to add someone to a group, I currently have to:
(i) email them to ask them to create a user ID -- and explain how to do this
(ii) get them to email me to tell me what it is
(iii) add this via the dropdown menu
Some possible improvements in the process:
* Allow me to contact the user directly in CKAN -- (i) currently
assumes I have their email address which I may not...
* Allow me to do (iii) via autocomplete form, or (even better) let
me skip (i) to (iii) by searching for their name / email address and
adding them that way. ;-)
Also can we currently bulk email users to ask them to do things like
give themselves a username, or to tell them about new features they
may be interested in? Other web services frequently do this, and I
think it would be a good way to keep in touch with CKAN's registered
users...
